Hello friends.
The first day of school looms not-so-far ahead, and I find myself saddened by what I feel is officially the end of my "year off". While I was away, I loved waking up in the morning and asking myself, "So, what are you going to do today?" and then opening a guide book and reading about all of the options that lay before me, or chatting with a stranger in a hostel about what activities or sights he/she thought I might enjoy in the area.
So here's my proposal: I'd like to make sure that this year I enjoy as much as this city has to offer in my free time, to keep me on my toes, excited and entertained. And I'd love for my friends, and their friends, to join in.
With the help of some friends I've brainstormed a few options for the coming months, and they are as follows (in no particular order):
-snowshoeing
-riplines @ COP
-bobsledding @ COP
-group volunteering somewhere (serving food at the Mustard Seed? walking dogs for the Humane Society?)
-behind the scenes @ the zoo
-Glenbow Museum
-mini-golf
-Calaway Park
-Heritage Park
-Calgary Tower
-science center
-canoeing/kayaking
-cross-country skiing
-tour of the Bonnie Brooke waste treatment plant
-rafting
-bird sanctuary
-horse-back riding at a ranch
-ghost walks
-pow-wow
-Lakota Lodge
-Royal Tyrell Museum
-candy factory
A lot of these options get me feeling pretty excited, and I'm hoping maybe they do for you, as well? Maybe you have some awesome ideas of your own, and you could let me know!
I'm thinking it would be pretty cool if dates were set for "Field Trips for Grown-Ups" in months to come. I'd be willing to organize a few upcoming 'activities', on certain days, and you could RSVP and let me know if you were interested in joining in. Of course, the more the merrier, a good way to meet new potential friends and enjoy the city.
What do you think?
